Khao Yai Tropical Forest & Khmer Stone Castles

Just 3 hrs. drive north from Bangkok, Khao Yai National Park is one of the best conservation management areas in the world and best places for exploring the tropical forest and wildlife. Khao Yai's dense forests and grass lands support a wide variety of protected mamals including deers, elephants, tigers, gaurs, pig-tailed macaque, gibbons, more than 300 bird species including giant hornbills and silver pheasants, and over 2,500 types of trees, plants, and flowers. We hike through the dense evergreen forest, watch the wildlife during trekking as well as visit beautiful waterfalls of Haew Suwat before overnight at the first class hotel in a lively town of Nakhon Ratchasima. On day 2 and 3 we proceed to visit three magnificent Khmer Temple Complexes of the 11st-12th century at Phimai, Phnom Rung, and Muang Tam. Enjoy life and scenery of northeast Thailand's countryside on the way back to Bangkok in the evening of day 3.

Day 1 Bangkok - Khao Yai (via Prachinburi) - Nature trail - Nakhon Ratchasima
07.30 Pick up at your hotel and proceed to Khao Yai National Park (about 3 hrs.). Visit Haew Suwat Waterfall before going to the headquarter of Khao Yai for orientation and having lunch.
pm Start hiking along the nature trail :Headquarter - Nong Pakchee ( 4.7 kms.) for about 3 hrs.
It's a good trail for observing the Hill Evergreen Forests. This trail has the good combination of the forest area, the river, the grass area and the swamp at Nong Pakchee. At the end of the trail you will have time to watch the wildlife at Nong Pakchee Wildlife Watching Tower.
16.00 Proceed to Nakhon Ratchasima ( Korat) and transfer to hotel. At leisure
19.00Dinner and observe the night bazaar area of the town
21.00Overnight at the hotel

Day 2 Nakhon Ratchasima - Phimai Khmer Stone Castles & museum- Buriram

08.00 Proceed to visit Phimai the largest Khmer Sanctuary within Thailand which was formerly linked by road with Ankor Wat. Phimai had been the prehistoric community about 3000 years ago and in the 11st century became an important town of Khmer Kingdom during the Angkorian Period. The Phimai ancient town complex cover the city moat, baray (large ponds),city gate, ancient road, and beautiful Mahayana stone temple at the center.
12.00 Lunch at Phimai and visit the Phimai Museum to observe many valueble art objects.
15.00 Proceed to Buriram, check in at the hotel.
18.00 Dinner.

Day 3 Buriram - Phnom Rung & Muang Tam Khmer Stone Castles

08.00 Drive to visit a 12th century structure, Phnom Rung in Buriram Province. It is a well preserved Khmer Temple Complex , its superb architecture being considerably enhanced by a dominant hill-top location which commands panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
Then we proceed to visit a peaceful look, Prasat Muang Tam, one of the most beautiful Khmer structures of the country.
12.00 Lunch before return to Bangkok with stops at the famous earthernware community, Ban Dan Kwian and fruite bazaar on the way.
18.00 Arrive Bangkok, transfer to hotel.

For conservation reasons, some trails will be closed for some times, we will guide you to hike in another available trail. There are 13 trails in Khao Yai National Park.
