| Hilltribes Treks In Mae Hong Son ( ECO.MHS 03 : 5 days 4 nights ) Activities : trekking / hiking, elephant riding, bamboo rafting, caving, village life & hilltribes visiting, boat cruise, mountain biking, interesting temples etc. Mae Hong Son, originally the isolated, mist-covered province, has become a wonderful place for those who love wandering off the beaten track. Hiking to visit local people and hilltribes from one village (and one ethnic group) to another is a once in a lifetime experience. There are many tribal ethnic groups living in Mae Hong Son such as Karen, Hmong, Lahu, Lisu, Lawa, etc. They share animist beliefs and honor numerous forest and guardian spirits. Each tribe has distinctive ceremonial attire, courtship rituals, games, dances, agricultural customs, dialects, aesthetic values and hygienic habits. The program start in Chiang Mai, travel by an air-cond. van to Pai via Mae Rim and Mae Malai with short visits at lively Mae Malai Market for buying something to drink & eat, small Mok Fa Waterfall, lovely Pong Dued Hotspring, and the River Pai Bridge- the dead railway built in 1942. On the first night, we stay at Tha Pai Spa Camping, the resort located on beautiful 40 acre piece of land, alongside Pai River. Accommodation are limited to 15 rooms & a number of tents. Each room has the balcony and bathroom which is equipped with shower of hot mineral water for the soothing relax in the room. Outdoor hot mineral water pool, spa, herbal sauna and Thai traditional massage are optionally provided including jogging trail, boating, and biking. The second day is a day for hiking /trekking. Start with driving to visit Lisu village, and begin to hike for 3 hrs.to Lod Cave. Caving with flashlight to view the array of stalagmites & stalactites. Picnic lunch on route. In the afternoon, hike further to Karen village for 3 hrs. Dinner and overnight camping in the Karen village. The third day, continue hiking to Phi Man Cave for about 3 hrs. Here are many ancient teak coffins to observe . Lunch will be served near the cave. Afternoon hiking about 2 hrs. to visit Shan Village, and another 2 hrs. to visit Black Lahu village where the hiking program end. From now onwards, travel by an air-cond. van straight to the township of Mae Hong Son with short visit at Fish Cave. The third night stay at Ruen Namkhang, the nice Thai beautiful teak house. Hot dinner will be served here. The 4th day is the day for variety of activities. Begin with driving to visit some Thai Yai style of temples, followed by bamboo rafting for 2 hrs. on Pai River, with picnic lunch at the end of rafting. Afternoon activities are elephant riding into the jungle for 1-2 hrs., and connect with boat riding for 1 hr.on Pai River to the suspension bridge. At the end enjoy mountain biking from the bridge to visit the Long-Neck & Long-Ear Karen at Ban Nai Soi for about 1-2 hrs. After that return to Ruen Namkhang by van. The last 5th day is the free day for you to discover Mae Hong Son. After breakfast, the guide will lead you to the downtown of Mae Hong Son, then free for your own discovery. The guide will meet you again at mid-day, and pick you up for lunch at the restaurant in the town. After that transfer to Mae Hong Son Airport for flight back to Chiang Mai, arrive the hotel about 16.30 hrs. |
