Day Cycling Tour South Of Chiang Mai (ECO.CL 04 : One Day) " Part of the pollution or part of the solution?" Get ready for take-off at 9 a.m., leaving the hotel for the streets of Chiang Mai. Traffic is light at about that time and we begin our journey south, following the Ping river downstream. The ride is pleasant and green due to the proximity of the river. Our first stop brings us to a setting reminiscent of the early years of the century. Although a leper colony, riders will find here a heaven of tranquillity in woodland surroundings. Continuing to the south, you will discover the real rural Thailand. Small country roads will lead us to Ban Tawai village, famous for its woodcarving artisans. There is time to look around while lunch is prepared at a local restaurant. Refuel and ready for the return journey, we take a scenic route back to Chiang Mai. We will have a short stop at a Chinese temple well-known for is somewhat quirky architecture (Sorry, no photographs). Entering the city we will strike up on a busy road, but crossing it will be no problem. Our bicycles are part of the solution! Arrival at the hotel is around 4 p.m. Price: USD 33 per person (2-3 people) USD 28 per person (4-12 people) Distance: around 44 km Terrain: flat with about 1.5 km unsealed road Landscape: (green) with various kinds of nature, good contact with local people Age group: everyone between 7 and 77 in normal condition Category: leisure cycling (but it is compulsory to wear a cycling helmet) Lunch: local restaurant (included) Beverage: because of the tropical heat it is advisable to drink a lot.
